CLOAK Apparel, Inc., also known as CLOAK INC launched on May 18, 2013, its latest campaign collection entitled, “I AM”. Established in 2008, their mission is to cover/cloak those in need through fashion. With this simple mission in mind, CLOAK INC has launched several campaign collections all with the purpose of raising awareness of social issues facing the global community.

Today, Ebonie M. Mukasa, CLOAK INC’s CEO and Founder announces the company’s newest social initiative, “For the past year and a half, we have been researching and listening to our hearts on what our next social campaign would be. The needs of the people of Haiti have been the focus of our campaigns since our start in 2008. We will still wholeheartedly continue to help Haiti, however, we wanted to find a homeland issue to stand behind. Human trafficking was brought to our attention in 2009 by Giselle Meza, Founder of Puresa Humanitarian. She has battled this epidemic in Nepal, India for several years. Within the last year we’ve learned that human trafficking is a major issue right here in our own backyard. Miami-Dade and Broward counties have sounded the alarm and we could not help but answer the call.”

The “I AM” Collection is a simple concept that speaks to a complex issue. Self-identity, self-respect and, love of self can be issues victims of human trafficking face. As well, traffickers and philanders of the industry often objectify and dehumanize their victims. The statement, “I AM” says more than a mouth full of words could ever say”, says Ebonie M. Mukasa. “I AM is a declaration that gives way to life.”

“We will be hosting and participating in several awareness events and forums in the upcoming year,” says Ebonie M. Mukasa. “All to support the efforts to end human trafficking.” CLOAK INC will be showcasing its collection this summer at the “Ultimate You” event hosted by Women Networking and Wellness Group taking place on June 23, 2013 where they will hit the runway at Briza on the Bay located in Miami, FL. On July 12th and 13th, 2013 CLOAK INC will be participating in the, “I Am Femme Fabulous Weekend” event hosted I Am Femme Fabulous taking place at the Deauville Beach Resort located in Miami Beach.

20% of the net proceeds from the sale of the “I AM” Campaign Collection will be donated to organizations rescuing and restoring victims of human trafficking. Dress Responsibly and Shop the Movement by visiting CLOAK INC’s online store at CLOAKINC.COM.

Mukasa
CEO & Founder
CLOAK INC

I could hardly sleep last night, anticipating today’s 3rd Annual ONE12 + Haiti Solidarity Virtual March (HSVM). As an Ambassador of Hope, the HSVM initiative is close to my heart. As an African-American woman, I recall the stories shared by my grandparents of what it felt like to March in the 1960′s here in the U.S. Likewise, I look back overtime and see so many other instances when people have banded together in one accord, moved in one direction, looked their obstacles in the face and allowed their feet to carry them forward.

Many have asked, “Why a March?” I always respond to those questions with, “Why not?” Why not get up and DO SOMETHING? Why not say something, invest something, develop something, create something? There is power in numbers and even more power when people agree and join their talents, influence, voices and finances together. Who can stand against the “Voice of One”? That is the “heartbeat” of today’s march.

So here we stand with the power of technology at our finger tips. We have the ability to join our voices with people across the globe, from Alaska to Switzerland, from Africa to Mexico, to scattered islands across the Atlantic and Gulf. So, let’s allow the power of social media to band us together in one accord, moved in one direction, look Haiti’s obstacles in the face and speak to them LOVE, HOPE and HELP.

HOW TO TWEET

March starts promptly at 4:53pm (EST) and will conclude at 5:53pm

Start your tweet with hashtag “#ilovehaiti”

Close your tweet with @cloakinc

Tweet as many times as you would like sentiments of love, hope and help for Haiti.

Make sure to purchase your Haiti Solidarity + Positivity Moves t-shirt.

We thank our gracious moderators for going first and leading us forward today.

Haiti you are loved!

“I am grateful to have had the honor to work with Terrance and Johanne.” “They brought such a creative and fresh perspective to our company’s vision and mission,” says, Ebonie M. Mukasa, CLOAK INC CEO and Founder. “In 2008 we stepped into a market that we knew little about, with aspirations to improve the quality of life for those in need.” “Fashion was the vehicle we chose to use to accomplish this mission.”

Over the past four years CLOAK INC has launched several collections including, Positivity Moves I & II, TATÚ – Wearable Art, The ONE Collection and The LOVE Collection. They partnered with several non-profit organizations which include Peace for Haiti and the Mission of Hope.

Today, CLOAK INC’s vision has broadened and supports a diverse mix of causes. As Haiti rebuilds, we will continue to support trust-worthy and transparent Haiti-focused organizations. Ebonie M. Mukasa, says, “We will continue to create interactive ways for our customer base to become Ambassadors of Hope like our 3rd Annual Haiti Solidarity Virtual March taking place on January 12th, 2013 on Twitter @cloakinc. We will continue to design and develop apparel pieces and accessories and organize other community based service projects that inspire love, hope and help.”

CLOAK INC is a social enterprise who since 2008 has been on a mission to cover those in need through fashion. Using their moral and faith based values as a guide; their simple formula for social change is to be a part of the solution or to create one.

If there wasn’t a better time to be logged onto Twitter, it will definitely be on January 12, 2012, as CLOAK INC will be hosting their 2nd Annual Haiti Solidarity Virtual March right on Twitter. This is something very amazingly done with the right purpose. The purpose of this Virtual March is to observe the 2nd year anniversary of the earthquakes in and around Haiti. This event will raise awareness of the on-going crises in Haiti and promote love and support for the country through social media platforms. Last year the Virtual March became a regional trending topic within minutes of its launch. The march will officially start at 4:53pm (EST) to observe the exact time the first 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti and surrounding countries to their core. Since that moment, people from around the globe have showered Haiti with their love and support. For more details about the ONE12 March, visit: neverforgettheday.com to show your support and love for Haiti.
